Rectangular fire-retaining valves are designed for installation in ventilation ducts of air exchange systems of buildings and structures. The valve is mounted directly into the section of the duct or the opening of the wall or shaft and serves to block the opening from fire, smoke, or vice versa, to back up the air, in case of a fire hazard.
